Smart IR Plus
The Beakn Smart IR Plus is a USB-powered WiFi IR blaster that replaces every infrared remote in a room with a single compact device. Plug it into any USB power source, connect to 2.4GHz WiFi, and control TVs, ACs, set-top boxes, BLDC fans, projectors, soundbars, AV receivers, and any other IR appliance — all from the Beakn app or by voice. No hub, no subscription, no electrician, no wiring changes.
It sits in Beakn's Plug & Play category alongside the Sensor Hub (IR blaster + temperature sensor, mains-powered) and the Smart Plug 16A V2 (heavy-appliance control + energy monitoring). What you need
•Any USB power source: a mobile charger (≥ 2W), a TV's USB port, or a USB power strip

Steps
1.Power: Plug the Smart IR Plus into any USB outlet.
2.Place: Set it on a shelf, TV unit, or table with a clear line of sight to the appliances. Do not enclose it in a cabinet — IR signals need a clear path even though coverage is 360°.
3.Pair: Open the Beakn app → Add Device → follow on-screen instructions to connect to 2.4GHz WiFi (takes < 2 min for most setups).
4.Add appliances: Select your appliance type (TV, AC, fan, STB, etc.) → pick your brand from the pre-loaded database, or use the IR recorder to learn commands from the physical remote.
5.Scene setup (optional): Combine IR commands with other Beakn devices into scenes or routines, and set triggers (schedule, voice, NFC, physical switch).
Wiring notes
•No wiring whatsoever — the device is 5V DC USB-powered; no live, neutral, or earth connections.
•One Smart IR Plus covers one room. IR signals do not pass through walls — install one per room that needs control.
•The Smart IR Plus is not the Sensor Hub. If your installation point has no neutral wire available, this is irrelevant — the Smart IR Plus only needs a USB port.
Placement tips
•Shelf or table height works well; elevated placement improves 360° spread
•Keep clear of enclosed furniture
•Ensure the USB cable (if extended) is not a fire risk — the draw is ≤ 2W, so any standard USB cable is fine
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the Smart IR Plus and the Sensor Hub?
Both are IR blasters with identical IR features — 4 LEDs, 360° coverage, IR learning, pre-loaded database, WiFi, voice control, cross-device scenes. The key differences:
•The Sensor Hub adds a built-in NTC room-temperature sensor for temperature-triggered automations (e.g. "turn AC on when room reaches 30°C").
•The Sensor Hub is mains-powered (240V AC with a built-in SMPS) and requires a neutral wire.
•The Smart IR Plus is USB-powered (5V DC) — no neutral wire, no electrician, plug-and-go.
Choose Smart IR Plus to replace remotes; choose Sensor Hub if you also want temperature-based automations.
Q: Does the device need to point towards the TV or AC?
No. The 4 IR LEDs provide 360° coverage, so it radiates in all directions. Just don't enclose it inside a cabinet — keep a clear line of sight between the device and the appliances.
Q: Will it work with my brand of TV / AC / set-top box?
Almost certainly yes. The app has a pre-loaded code database covering common Indian brands for quick setup. If your brand or model isn't listed (including unbranded or grey-market units), the built-in IR recorder learns commands directly from your existing physical remote in seconds.
Q: Does it need a hub or a Beakn gateway?
No. The Smart IR Plus connects directly to your 2.4GHz WiFi network and to Beakn's cloud — no hub, bridge, or gateway required.
Q: What happens if my internet goes down?
Offline control is supported on the local network. You can still control devices via the Beakn app as long as your phone and the Smart IR Plus are on the same WiFi network. Remote access (from outside your home) requires internet.
Q: What USB sources can power it?
Any standard 5V USB output: a mobile phone charger, the USB port on your TV (very convenient — TV powers the blaster), a USB power strip, a laptop USB port. Maximum draw is ≤ 2W, so any USB charger rated 1A or above is sufficient.
Q: Does it need a neutral wire?
No. The Smart IR Plus is USB-powered at 5V DC. Neutral wire is not applicable. (The Sensor Hub, which is mains-powered, does require a neutral wire — but that is a different product.)
Q: Can it control my BLDC fan or an unbranded set-top box?
Yes. BLDC fans are explicitly supported. For unbranded STBs or any device not in the database, use the IR recorder to learn commands from the physical remote.
Q: Can I create scenes that combine IR commands with my lights or curtains?
Yes. Cross-device scenes and routines let you combine IR commands with Beakn smart switches, lights, and curtains — triggered by app, voice, NFC tag, schedule, or a physical switch.
Q: Does the Smart IR Plus have a temperature sensor?
No. It has no built-in temperature sensor. For temperature-triggered automations, choose the Sensor Hub instead.
