Fade In & Fade Out β TRIAC and 2-Channel Dimmers
Β
Instead of snapping on, the light comes up gradually over a time you choose. It looks better and it is much kinder at night.
Β
1.Open the app and tap Devices.
2.Select the TRIAC Dimmer or the 2-Channel Dimmer.
3.Tap Settings.
4.Open Additional Settings.
5.Tap Fade In & Out.
6.Choose the fade duration.
Β
The setting applies straight away.
Β
Available durations: 0.5 second, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 seconds, and 1 minute.
Β
Good for bedrooms, living rooms, home theatres and any ambient lighting. It works whether the light is switched from the wall or from the app.
Β
Real-life example: A 3-second fade on the bedroom light means the 2 am trip to the kitchen does not start with a wall of white light in your eyes.
Β
Backlight Schedule β touch switches
Β
Touch switches have a backlight so you can find them in the dark. The problem is that at full brightness they are a small lamp on your bedroom wall all night. A backlight schedule dims them at the times you choose.
Β
1.Open the app and tap Devices.
2.Open the room.
3.Select the switch.
4.Tap Backlight Schedule.
5.Tap the + icon.
6.Set the backlight brightness, anywhere from 0% to 100%.
7.Choose the time.
8.Select Repeat Schedule, or pick the days you want.
9.Tap Create Schedule.
Β
Set one schedule to drop the backlight to 10% at 10 pm and another to bring it back to 100% at 7 am, and you never think about it again.
Β
Two-Way Switch Mode β Retrofit devices
Β
Retrofit devices can work with two-way wiring, where one appliance is controlled from two physical switches. If your installation is not two-way, turning this off makes the switch behave more predictably.
Β
1.Open the app and tap Settings β Devices.
2.Select the Retrofit Device.
3.Tap Settings.
4.Open Additional Settings.
5.Turn Don't Use as 2-Way Switch on or off.
Β
Which setting do you want?
Β
β’Two-way enabled (toggle OFF) β use this when the appliance really is wired to a two-way switch. The app and the physical switch work together on the same appliance.
β’Don't use as 2-way (toggle ON) β use this when there is no two-way switch. The physical switch then behaves like an ordinary switch, and you avoid unwanted state changes when you control the appliance from the app, Google Assistant or Alexa.
Β
If a retrofit switch keeps ending up in the opposite state to the one you asked for, this setting is almost always the reason.
Β
LED indicator β Smart Plug
Β
The Smart Plug's button LED can be turned off, which matters if the plug is in a bedroom.
Β
1.Tap Settings on the bottom menu.
2.Tap Devices.
3.Select the Smart Plug.
4.Tap Additional Settings.
5.Toggle the LED indicator setting.
